No Exynos 8890 Or A QHD Display For Meizu PRO 6, Says Li Nan

Meizu is certainly one of the more interesting China-based smartphone manufacturers. This company managed to sell 20 million smartphones last year, which is a great improvement compared to a year before when they managed to ship only 4.4 million units. Meizu has introduced a number of interesting devices last year, and we’re yet to see a Meizu-branded handset released in 2016. Well, judging by our sources, the company is going to hold two press events in April, which essentially means that they’ll probably release more than one smartphone.

That being said, chances are that we’ll see Meizu M3 released in April, and the Meizu MX6 is also a possibility, though that handset might be released a bit later on. The company’s new flagship phablet, the Meizu PRO 6, probably won’t arrive until Q3 or Q4 this year. Despite the fact Meizu PRO 6’s launch is still far away, we’ve been seeing quite a few rumors and leaks regarding this smartphone. Well, in addition to all that, Meizu’s VP, Li Nan, actually already revealed some details when it comes to the PRO 6. While he was chatting with a fan, Li Nan confirmed that the Meizu PRO 6 will not sport a QHD display, nor will it be fueled by the Exynos 8890 SoC. The company’s exec said that QHD displays are simply not efficient enough when the battery is concerned, so that the company will rather put a fullHD panel on there and provide their consumers with not only better battery life, but better performance as well. As far as the SoC is concerned, Mr. Nan did say that the Exynos 8890 does not offer full network support, and it needs to support all of China’s mobile carriers. Does this mean the PRO 6 will be fueled by the Snapdragon 820? Well, that seems quite likely at the moment, considering the MX6 will probably ship out with MediaTek’s Helio X20 included.

The Meizu PRO 6’s launch is still far away, and we already know that it will ship with a fullHD display, that it won’t sport the Exynos 8890. The company has earlier confirmed that we can expect to see ‘Force Touch’ display as well, and judging by some leaks, the PRO 6 might include the ‘Dual Edge‘ display we’ve seen in Samsung’s Galaxy S6 Edge and S7 Edge smartphones. Meizu will not be the first China-based company to utilize such a display though, Vivo has recently unveiled their Xplay 5 handset which sports the ‘Dual Edge’ panel.
