Opera Makes It easier To Switch Tabs In Version 36

Opera may not be the most used browser on mobile devices, or any platform for that matter, but it is a popular browser and one that is constantly receiving updates from the development team. The latest version which is version 36 has just begun pushing out to the Play Store for users, and it brings in a handful of features and improvements that should make the overall experience a more enjoyable one whether you are an existing Opera user or a newcomer that has decided to try out Opera for the first time. As the update started hitting devices earlier today, the update should be live for just about everyone at this point in time.

Perhaps most notably with the version 36 update is the brand-new tab switcher that the development team has integrated into the Opera browser. Now when creating and moving between new and different tabs, the tabs are displayed horizontally, with a larger row of pages displayed up top and a smaller row of tabs displayed on the bottom that you can shift between more quickly. This is basically the opposite of how tabs are displayed in the most recent version of Chrome where tabs are displayed vertically alongside the other open apps from the recents screen. A brand-new tab switcher is of course not the only new change to the new version Opera worth mentioning.

Aside from the new tab view within the app, Opera 36 also now has Chromium 49 support, and Opera demonstrates this by showing off its ability to use the browser to control the Sphero BB-8 Droid device that was made in replica of the BB-8 droid from the most recent Star Wars film, Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens. Lastly, the latest version of the Opera app now alerts users to whenever they have the opportunity to install a web app shortcut to the homescreen if it’s a website that they tend to visit often. If you tend to frequent certain websites, the web app installer reminders could actually come in pretty handy. This update should be live for all users as of now, and if you’re new to Opera you can grab the app from the Play Store.
