Oppo has released quite a few compelling smartphones thus far. This China-based company might not be that popular outside of Asia, but they’re definitely well known in Asia, especially China. Oppo has actually managed to sell 50 million smartphones last year, which can be considered a great success for this company. Their Oppo R7 and R7 Plus handset were in high-demand according to the company, and it seems like Oppo wants to make the Oppo R9 as successful as well.
The company has more or less confirmed yesterday that the Oppo R9 will be announced on March 17th by releasing an official teaser image. Well, it seems like this handset has already been certified in China. If you take a look at the images down below, you’ll get to see TENAA’s OPPO R9 and R9 Plus images. TENAA is basically China’s equivalent to the FCC, and their info is almost always completely accurate. As you can see, both of these devices sport a physical home button below the display, and are quite similar in terms of the design, size is the only differentiating factor here. The two handsets actually sport similar internals as well, the Oppo R9 sports a 5.5-inch fullHD display, while the Oppo R9 Plus will ship with a 6-inch 1080p panel (both sport AMOLED panels). The R9 is fueled by an octa-core SoC running at 1.95GHz, while the Oppo R9 Plus sports a chip clocked at 1.8GHz. It is highly likely we’re looking at the Snapdragon 652 here, so these two phones won’t exactly be the flagship offerings some consumers were hoping for.
The Oppo R9 packs in 32GB of internal storage, while its bigger sibling comes with 64GB of native storage (both variants will offer expandable storage). Both of these devices will ship with 4GB of RAM on board, and Android 5.1 Lollipop will come pre-installed on them, with Oppo’s Color OS available on top of Google’s operating system. The 2,850mAh battery will be included with the Oppo R9, while the 4,120mAh unit will ship with the Oppo R9 Plus. Both of these smartphones will feature a 16-megapixel main camera, and two SIM card slots will be included as well. These two devices will also sport Oppo’s VOOC Flash Charge technology, the company has confirmed, but we still don’t know if that’s the VOOC tech that was introduced during this year’s MWC. Either way, stay tuned, these two phones will be introduced on March 17th.
