Oppo R9 & R9 Plus Will Be Announced In India On April 6

Oppo might not be amongst the best known China-based companies, at least to consumers outside of Asia, but they sure are one of the most successful ones. Oppo has managed to sell around 50 million smartphones last year, which was quite surprising to some people, but it seems like this Chinese smartphone manufacturer is doing better than expected. Their Oppo R7 and R7 Plus devices were amongst the most popular Oppo-branded devices last year, and the two devices alone accounted for a huge chunk of Oppo’s sales (around 15 million).

That being said, Oppo has introduced Oppo R7 & R7 Plus successors quite recently, the Oppo R9 and R9 Plus were introduced about two weeks ago, and are still not available outside of China, but that will change soon. The company has started sending out event invites for these two devices, the press conference will take place on April 5th. The company has actually sent out invites for the ‘camera phone launch’ event, but it’s quite obvious at this point that these two smartphones will be introduced in India. Oppo India has already shared a couple of teasers on Social networks, both of which you can check out in the gallery down below, and all that remains now, is for Oppo to unveil these handsets in India as well. The two devices will almost certainly going to be identical to their Chinese counterparts, only their pricing will be different, of course. The Oppo R9 and R9 Plus cost 2,799 Yuan ($431) and 3,299 Yuan ($508) in China, respectively, and we do expect them to be a bit more expensive in India.

The Oppo R9 Sports a 5.5-inch fullHD (1920 x 1080) AMOLED display, along with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of expandable internal storage, while the device is fueled by the Helio P10 64-bit octa-core SoC.The Oppo R9 Plus, on the other hand, ships with a 6-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) AMOLED panel, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of expandable internal storage. The R9 Plus is fueled by the Snapdragon 652 64-bit octa-core SoC, which is also a mid-range processor, just like the Helio P10. The Oppo R9 features a 13-megapixel camera on the back, while the R9 Plus packs in a 16-megapixel snapper. VOOC Flash Charge is available in both the R9 and R9 Plus, while both devices also pack in fingerprint scanner, and they actually look almost identical, the sheer size of the devices is the only differentiating factor.
