Samsung has introduced their new flagship smartphones during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona last month. The Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge devices have been available for pre-order for quite some time now, and will go on sale tomorrow, March 11th. That being said, a recent report actually claimed that the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge pre-orders are not exactly going according to plans for Samsung. The report claimed that the two devices are not being pre-ordered as much as Samsung would like, which sounded interesting, but kind of hard to believe considering the reaction of the public after the launch event last month.
Well, the company’s senior executive decided to quash such speculation from the get-go. Samsung’s President of Handsets Business, Koh Dong-Jin, said that pre-orders for the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge are actually stronger-than-expected, which means that the previous report was off, if you believe the company’s exec, of course. Koh Dong-Jin did not want to share Samsung’s sales target with the public, but he did say that he expects these two phones will revive Samsung’s sales in China, a market in which Samsung lost a huge chunk of market share over the last year or two. Chinese smartphone market is still the largest smartphone market in the world, and it’s not exactly a surprise Samsung wants to revive their sales over there.
The Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge handsets are both fueled by either the Snapdragon 820 or Exynos 8890 SoC, which is market dependent. The two devices feature QHD Super AMOLED panels, though their size is different. The Galaxy S7 ships with a 5.1-inch display, while the Galaxy S7 Edge comes with a 5.5-inch panel. The 12-megapixel ‘Dual Pixel’ camera is located on the back of these devices, and both phones are made out fo metal and glass. Android 6 Marshmallow comes pre-installed on the two phones, and on top of it, you’ll find Samsung’s TouchWiz UI. That is more or less it. It seems like Samsung expects Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge sales to crush previous records, but we won’t really know how well the sales are proceeding until we get first official stats from Samsung, and those numbers surely won’t pop up anytime soon, the device is not even officially available for purchase just yet.
