Samsung Launches Voice Recorder App For The Galaxy S7

Over the years, Samsung’s proprietary TouchWiz user interface has been subject to a love it or hate it sort of position from users. Samsung became aware of this and for the past few years, the company has been working on streamlining its proprietary TouchWiz UI. The latest version found on the Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge is as close to stock Android as it has ever been, and interestingly enough, this year Samsung even decided to remove certain “main” applications from TouchWiz UI, replacing them with Google’s alternatives. One of these applications was Samsung Voice Recorder. The good news for Samsung Galaxy S7 / Galaxy S7 Edge owners is that the application is now available for download in the Google Play Store.

Although Samsung has removed a handful of proprietary applications from the newest version of TouchWiz UI – including Music and Video Player – these applications have been added to the Google Play Store and have been available for download by Samsung Galaxy S7 / Galaxy S7 Edge owners who might prefer them over Google’s alternatives. Now, the Samsung Voice Recorder application which was also removed from the latest TouchWiz UI has been added to the Google Play Store and is available for download by owners of the latest flagship phones. The app doesn’t seem to be compatible with other Samsung smartphones aside from the new Galaxy S7 series, but presumably, it will become available on other, future Samsung devices running Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

As for the application itself, it’s more or less your standard voice recording app, but it does have a few interesting features. For starters, the app allows users to link voice recordings with NFC tags, so whenever a user touches the back of the phone to an NFC tag, the linked recording will playback automatically. It also has a “Voice Memo” feature, allowing users to record their voices and convert them to on-screen text. The application supports background recording and gives users the option to bookmark points during recording. If you happen to own a Samsung Galaxy S7 or Galaxy S7 Edge, you can click the Google Play banner below and you will be one more click away from installing the app on your device.
