Earlier today, Samsung formally announced the worldwide availability of the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge, and while there are 60 different regions all over the world that are seeing the launch of Samsung’s latest and greatest, North America is clearly one of the key markets. Following the popular and arguably revolutionary Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge, these two new kids on the block have their work cut out for them. However, thanks to improvements across the board, it seems as though Samsung has managed to right many of the wrongs that people felt they made with the Galaxy S6 line. Namely, water-resistance makes a return alongside expandable storage, too. As well as this, the two new devices also feature improved battery life.
On Verizon, the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge are now available both online and in stores across the nation, although they’re not cheap, naturally. Those looking at the Galaxy S7 will need to pay $28 a month while those looking at the Galaxy S7 Edge are looking at $33 a month, both these prices are for contracts of 24 months. Prices on contract are subject to their credit score, and there is a way to purchase the devices outright, but they start at $672 and $792 for the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge, respectively. During the pre-order period of the two devices, retailers were offering a free Gear VR for pre-ordering the latest Samsung hardware. Verizon bucked that trend a little by offering a choice of a Gear S2 smartwatch instead of the VR headset. It appears like this deal is still running for those that purchase either of the two online, but it’s unclear for how much longer they’ll be running this promotion.
It’s set to be a busy, busy month for Samsung as these two new devices have launched a little earlier than many were expecting them to, but judging by early pre-order figures and commentary, it appears as though these are a success.
