Samsung’s new twin flagships, the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge, may already be fully announced and released out into the wild, but they’re not quite immune to leaks yet. To prove that point, somebody got a picture over to our source, TMoNews, that shows a T-Mobile internal document about the phones. Specifically, the document states that T-Mobile will be running a buy one get one free promotion on the two new handsets. Of course, these are rarely ever drop dead simple and such is the case here, though the caveats are relatively easy to swallow in the face of getting a brand new flagship device for free.
For starters, T-Mobile employees are not eligible for the deal, as is usually the case with special promotions, contests and the like. In order to get the deal, customers have to be adding at least one line or making a new account entirely. At least one of the two phones the customer will receive has to go on a new line in order for the customer to qualify for the deal. Furthermore, the customer cannot be buying the devices outright and must enter into an equipment installment plan. They must also pay the taxes and fees, as well as any applicable down payment, on the free phone while buying the other phone like normal. Depending on your credit, this means that the “free” phone can cost anywhere between just the fees and half the retail price of the phone. Customers can also only get the deal twice per account. If a customer wants to take advantage of the deal twice, they’ll have to add two lines.
A date was not mentioned on the document, but the promo is expected to launch along with the official launch of the phones in question on March 11. Although it can’t be called a completely free phone because of the taxes, fees and possible down payment for some customers, this is still quite a deal, especially for a phone that hasn’t even officially launched yet. If you’re in the market for a Galaxy S7 or S7 Edge, this may be something to consider.
