Xiaomi is still the number one smartphone manufacturer in China, and it will surely going to be interesting to see whether they’ll be able to fight off Huawei until the end of this year. Anyhow, this company has announced their new flagship last month during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, and the device is already available for purchase in China. XIaomi Mi 5 is expected to roll out to additional markets in the coming weeks.
That being said, the company has been rumored to be working on a new low to mid-range handset, a device similar to the Redmi 3 which was introduced back in January. This handset has actually surfaced on TENAA quite recently, and some details were revealed because of it. Well, some additional info surfaced recently, and it seems like that handset will be called the ‘Redmi 3S’, and it will feature a fingerprint scanner. Now, the report claims that the phone will be almost identical to the Redmi 3 (which goes hand-in-hand with TENAA’s info) in terms of hardware and specs in general, but will sport a fingerprint scanner, which is something the REdmi 3 does not offer. This handset is expected to be announced soon, but we still don’t know when exactly. It is possible that the company will introduce this handset on April 6th, which will be their sixth anniversary.
Interesting enough, the Redmi 3S’ pricing surfaced as well, and according to that info, this handset will cost 799 Yuan ($122). According to TENAA, the Redmi 3S will sport a 5-inch 720p or 1080p display, along with 2GB of RAM. The phone will be fueled by the Snapdragon 616 64-bit octa-core processor, and a 13-megapixel snapper (PDAF) will be included on the back. The 5-megapixel shooter will be placed on the front side of this smartphone, and a 4,000mAh battery will also be a part of this package. The phone will be made out of metal, and will be 8.5mm thick. There you have it, this is pretty much all the Redmi 3S info we have thus far, but we’re sure that additional stuff will surface before the launch date, so stay tuned.
