Samsung has introduced the Galaxy Note 5 phablet back in August last year. That handset might not be the company’s most powerful device any longer, but it is certainly their most powerful phablet. Anyhow, the Galaxy Note 6 is expected to arrive in either August or September this year, and we did see some rumors regarding this phablet, but not much. Well, a new rumor just surfaced, and it’s quite interesting actually, read on.
A new rumor surfaced in China, and according to the provided info, the Galaxy Note 6 might be fueled by the Snapdragon 823 64-bit quad-core SoC from Qualcomm. The Snapdragon 823 is, allegedly, an upgraded version of the Snapdragon 820 SoC which is currently fueling the LG G5, Xiaomi Mi 5 and the Galaxy S7 & S7 Edge. This SoC will reportedly going to be clocked at 2.6GHz, and will ship with the same GPU you can find in Snapdragon 820-powered devices, the Adreno 530. Now, the Snapdragon 823 SoC still hasn’t been confirmed by the company, and is just a rumor at this point, but as already mentioned, this is probably going to be the Snapdragon 820 with a higher clock speed, that’s it. Now, some of you might say that there’s no way Samsung will use this SoC because they would compete with themselves (Exynos 8890), but do keep in mind that both the Snapdragon 820 and Exynos 8890 variants of the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge are available out in the market, so… this might happen.
Now, the Galaxy Note 6 is not the only handset mentioned here, the source also mentions that the LG G Flex 3, and a new Xperia flagship might ship with the aforementioned Snapdragon 823 SoC. It is also suggested that the RAM count on these devices might be higher than we’re used to, so the Galaxy Note 6 might actually ship with more than 4GB of RAM. That might seem like an overkill on Samsung’s part, but do keep in mind that Vivo and Vernee already announced 6GB RAM handsets, and the Vivo Xplay 5 is already available in China.
