Google I/O takes place next month in Mountain View, CA. This is Google’s annual developer conference where they showcase a lot of the new projects they’ve been working on. And also have a number of breakout sessions for developers to learn more about different developers tools they have available as well as API’s and such. It’s a great few days for developers to learn all sorts of things, and the tickets always sell out crazy fast. Usually within seconds. Which is why Google has gone to a lottery system in the past few years. To make it a bit more fair for those that want to go.
Looking at the schedule this year, it looks like the keynote will be about two hours long. That’s a bit shorter than normal. Typically we get an almost 3-hour long keynote that sometimes goes even longer. Breakout sessions are starting at 1pm on the first day. There’s quite a few sessions about what’s new in Android. Of course Google isn’t mentioning what it is new just yet, as that is being kept secret for the event itself. There are also some sessions for Android Gaming, Android Auto and Android TV. Much of which we expected to see. There are also a few breakout sessions for Project Tango which should give us an idea of how serious Google is about Tango, and we might even see Lenovo’s Project Tango smartphone at the event.
There’s a lot of open space in the schedule right now. This is pretty normal actually, as we’ll likely see these fill up after the keynote. As Google doesn’t want to spoil the surprises by putting them in the schedule. That makes sense and is something we expected to see. We know that Google’s opening keynote will be full of fun surprises. Although we may not see them detail the Android N Developer Preview, considering they announced that back in March, a full two months ahead of Google I/O. But there’s bound to be some new surprises this year. Especially with them doing it outdoors this time around, instead of at Moscone Center in San Francisco.
