HTC will be taking the wraps off of their newest flagship smartphone next week at an “online only” event which will be streamed in VR beginning at 8am EST. While HTC hasn’t confirmed the name, it is said to be the HTC 10, dropping the “One” and the “M” in front of the number, which we’ve seen with the HTC One M7, One M8 and One M9. This would be HTC’s tenth flagship smartphone, and it’s looking like it’s going to be a fantastic one, if the rumors floating around are anything to go by.
On top of the rumored specs for the HTC 10, which consist of a 5.15-inch quad HD display (some rumors say AMOLED others say Super LCD which is what HTC typically goes with). Along with the Snapdragon 820 processor (which Qualcomm itself has been teasing for the HTC 10), along with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. HTC is rumored to be going with an UltraPixel camera on the back, making it a 12-megapixel sensor. But this time it’s stated that it’ll be the same Sony IMX377 sensor that is on the Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P. The front-facing camera, however is going to be a 4-megapixel UltraPixel sensor from HTC. And now it looks like that front-facing camera will have OIS, and be a world first.
For many people, OIS may not be a big deal on the front-facing camera. But once you take a picture with that camera and see that the picture won’t be blurry thanks to OIS, you’ll fall in love. This means you’ll get even better selfies – yes, HTC is going to market it as a Selfie camera – and who wouldn’t love that? There was a tweet out about the HTC 10 sporting the first “selfie camera”, but that has since been deleted, so it was likely pushed out a bit early. Like a week early.
HTC is taking the wraps off of the HTC 10 next week, and we’ve already seen plenty of leaks on the device including what Sense 8 may look like. Of course, we’ll see the whole picture next week when everything is made official.
