Samsung has introduced their new ‘Galaxy S’ flagships for 2016, the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge. These two handsets have been announced back in February, and the company will introduce at least one more premium device this year. We’re, of course, talking about the Galaxy Note 6, the successor to the company’s current-gen flagship phablet, the Galaxy Note 5. We did see a couple of Galaxy Note 6 rumors thus far, but that was a while ago, and they were not all that believable to begin with. Well, a new rumor just popped up, read on.
This rumor comes straight from SamMobile, and it seemingly reveals some features of the upcoming Galaxy Note 6. The source says that the Galaxy Note 6 will sport IP68 certification for water and dust resistance, just like the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge. This was to be expected though, so it’s nothing groundbreaking. Interesting enough, the source also claims that the Galaxy Note 6 will ship with the Iris (retina) scanner as well. The Galaxy Note 6 will quite possibly sport a similar design to the Galaxy S7, which explains the IP68 rating. Now, as far as the retina scanner goes, GalaxyClub discovered that Samsung actually imported the ‘iris cam’ into India for testing purposes. Now, this isn’t exactly a confirmation or anything of the source, but it sure hints that the Galaxy Note 6 could sport such a sensor, mainly because it won’t be announced for another 4 months or so.
Now, we really don’t have all the spec details when it comes to the Galaxy Note 6, but the rumors did say that it might sport a 5.8-inch QHD (2560 x 1440) Super AMOLED display, along with 6GB of RAM on the inside. The device will be fueled by Samsung’s Exynos 8890 64-bit octa-core processor, though a Snapdragon 820 variant is also a possibility. Android Marshmallow is expected to ship with the Note 6, but it is possible that Samsung opts for Android N considering the developer preview is already out, and Google will release the final update for Nexus devices after Google I/O. Chances are Samsung will include Galaxy S7’s sensor in the Galaxy Note 6, the 12-megapixel snapper, and the Note 6 will be made out of metal.
