LeEco Plans To Sell 15 Million Smartphones This Year

LeEco (formerly Letv) has released quite a few products the other day. The company has held a press conference in China and has launched three new smartphones, two new smart TVs, a virtual reality headset and even a prototype of an electric car. The most notable launches were the Le 2, Le 2 Pro and Le Max 2 handsets, direct successors to the devices LeEco introduced back in April last year. These three phones are quite affordable, and yet their specifications are premium, especially when we talk about the Le 2 Pro and Le Max 2, which are the company’s flagship smartphone and phablet, respectively.

That being said, this company hasn’t been in the smartphone business for long, the three devices they announced in April 2015 were actually their first smartphones, even though the company has been around for quite some time now, and is very popular in China, mainly because of their video streaming business. Anyhow, LeEco has managed to sell 4 million devices in only 7 months since releasing first devices, which is considered to be a huge success for them considering the original plan was to sell 3 million devices in the first year of business, and they’ve sold almost 10 million up to this point (1 year). Well, LeEco’s appetite for success is now even higher than it was before, the company plans to sell 15 million smartphones in 2016, and judging how well their sales have been progressing, that might even happen, but we’ll see. LeEco’s devices still have limited availability, though the company does have plans to expand to new markets, including the US where they already sell accessories through their official online store (LeMall).

The Le2, Le 2 Pro and Le Max 2 are expected to sell really well for LeEco, and considering the extremely competitive pricing attached to those phones, the company might sell quite a few of them. The three smartphones are priced at 1,099 Yuan, 1,399 Yuan and 2,099 Yuan respectively, and as already mentioned, the last two devices come with premium spec sheets and build. The Le 2 Pro and Le Max 2 are made out of metal, fueled by the Snapdragon 820 SoC, sport 21-megapixel sensors, and 4GB of RAM on the inside, while the Le Max 2 also comes in a 6GB RAM variant.
