MetroPCS, the prepaid brand of T-Mobile USA, has announced the launch of a new promotional offer that it claims will cut “40% off your monthly Sprint bill”, according to a press release from the parent company. The carrier is offering users the option of signing up for 2 lines with unlimited talk and text along with 6 GB of LTE data at just $60 a month when at least one of the two numbers is ported in from a competing carrier. Subscribers will also be able to add up to five additional lines under the same terms, with each line costing $30 including taxes and regulatory fees. The newly-launched family plan is a time-limited promotional offer that will be available to all new and existing customers with immediate effect but T-Mobile does not say for how long the offer will be available.
Meanwhile, the promo is also valid even for those looking to activate new numbers without porting in any existing number, but only 3 GB of LTE data will be available per line in that case. What’s interesting is that T-Mobile seems to be going for Sprint’s jugular with this latest promo, seeing as the nation’s third-largest carrier reminds Sprint’s customers that with this new plan, they won’t have to share their data with anyone, as they’ll all get their own allocation. What’s more, MetroPCS customers, irrespective of the plan they’re on, will get Music Unlimited, which will mean streaming music from over forty music streaming services will not count against their monthly data allocation.
Unlike most other carriers who typically charge users an additional fee for tethering their smartphone’s data connection, MetroPCS says that it will allow users to share their data with other devices at no extra charge. So all in all, the offer seems to be a pretty decent one on the face of it, and will likely suit those looking to get some extra bang for their hard-earned buck. Interested users can walk into any MetroPCS store starting today and sign-up for the plan, which, as mentioned already, is valid for existing MetroPCS customers as well as new users, although, customers switching over from other carriers are definitely getting the better deal.
