Rumor: Xiaomi, Meizu & Oppo To Release Curved-Display Phones

Samsung has managed to intrigue people when the company release the Galaxy S6 Edge last year. The design of that phone was unique due to the ‘Dual Edge’ display that was used by the company. Samsung has introduced the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus later in 2015, and the Galaxy S7 Edge arrived in February, all of which sport such a curved display. Samsung isn’t the only one who released a smartphone with such a display though, Vivo has done the same quite recently when they unveiled the Xplay 5 handset, which not only sports the ‘Dual Edge’ display, but it is also the first smartphone in the world with 6GB of RAM.

That being said, we’ve seen several reports claiming that many China-based smartphone manufacturers are getting ready to release handsets with a curved display. Keep in mind that this doesn’t necessarily mean those handsets will sport the ‘Dual Edge’ display, who knows what will the companies announce, perhaps it will ship with a different curved display, like the one we’ve seen in the LG G Flex and G Flex 2. Anyhow, a new report surfaced in China quite recently, courtesy of the industry insider, MochaRQ. According to he provided info, Oppo, Meizu, Gionee and Xiaomi are already working on their curved smartphones. Huawei was rumored to be working on such a smartphone recently as well, so chances are we’ll see more curved-display devices announced before the end of this year.

The source didn’t really elaborate on the release info, he just said that the aforementioned companies are working on curved-display smartphones, and that’s it. This is the fourth such report we’ve seen in the last couple of weeks, which suggests we’ll see some interesting phones announced soon. Curved-display smartphones might not be for everyone, especially not the ones like the Galaxy S7 Edge, but the curved display sure does make the phone look great, and people seem to love Samsung’s curved devices quite a bit. Having all this in mind, it will definitely going to be interesting to see what will companies like Meizu, Xiaomi and Huawei release in this regard.
