While the Samsung Galaxy S7 line continue to ship to consumers around the world, the South Korean giant appears to be working on a brand new series of mid-range terminals aimed at the mobile market in China. The new lineup will apparently go by the name of “Samsung Galaxy C”, and as yet, two smartphones from the series have been identified by their model numbers, following a series of leaks and rumors. More recently, the so-called Samsung Galaxy C5 was spotted in the Geekbench database, where most of its hardware specifications have been uncovered.
A new Samsung smartphone carrying the model number “SM-C5000” was recently listed by Geekbench, and reportedly the device is none other than the fabled Samsung Galaxy C5. According to data revealed by Geekbench, the Samsung Galaxy C5 is equipped with a Qualcomm CPU (presumably the Snapdragon 617 SoC) featuring 8 cores clocked at up to 1.52 GHz each. The processor appears to be accompanied by 4 GB of RAM (3632 MB listed by Geekbench), and the smartphone runs Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. Overall, the handset is apparently able to score 640 points in Geekbench’s single-core tests, and 3163 points in multi-core benchmarks. No other details regarding hardware specifications have been revealed, so it remains to be seen how capable the camera will be, how much on-board storage will be available out of the box, and how big the battery is. Either way, the smartphone has been previously spotted in India where it was shipped for R&D purposes last month, and apparently it is equipped with a 5.2-inch display.
Internal specifications aside, the Samsung Galaxy C5 is rumored to hit China exclusively next month, but whether or not the smartphone will remain exclusive to the Chinese market is unknown. In any case, the Samsung Galaxy C series could accommodate at least one more smartphone, which has been previously referred to as the “Samsung Galaxy C7” or the “SM-C7000”. According to sources of SamMobile, both the Samsung Galaxy C5 and Galaxy C7 will be wrapped in metal, however, at the moment not much is known regarding the Samsung Galaxy C7 so it may or may not exist after all. With that being said, remember to treat rumors as rumors, and not as confirmed data.
