T-Mobile's Retail Presence Continues To Expand

T-Mobile has had an up and down relationship with wireless customers in the past, but over the past several years they have risen to become one of the more popular major carriers here in the U.S., using an aggressive strategy to put customers first and offer groundbreaking services which has bumped them firmly into the spot of the third largest wireless carrier in the nation. T-Mobile’s strategy to offer services isn’t the only aggressive about the company however, as research shows that they have also been aggressive in expanding out their retail presence with new carrier locations across the country.

According to Wave7 Research, T-Mobile has been growing its retail location numbers in multiple states in Colorado, Iowa, Michigan, Texas, North Carolina South Carolina, Arkansas, and Wisconsin. These are alongside a new store in New York City’s Times Square which is easier for customers to see from the street. Growing its number of retail stores is of course a priority for the carrier, but it’s also been working to grow its LTE network across the U.S. while taking a heavier focus on rural areas as well suburban neighborhoods. Typically T-Mobile has focused mostly on the major metropolitan areas, stating on more than one occasion that they focus their network efforts “where the people are.” This new push into suburban and rural locations shows that they have more of a commitment now to the customers who live in those areas in efforts to keep as many people covered by their fast LTE network as possible.

The expansion of T-Mobile’s company-owned retail presence comes at a time when they’re seeing their third-party retail presence come to an end, as they will no longer be selling postpaid devices and plans in Walmart outlets at some point in the near future. It also comes at a time where T-Mobile is looking to expand their plan offerings, as they had recently started selling data-only plans to customers at just $20 a month for 2GB of data. T-Mobile offers other data-only plans on top of that, bumping from $20 to $35 for 6GB of data, and going all the way up to $95 a month for 22GB of data for those that are heavy users.
