The HTC Vive is finally here, and we’ve had a good couple of days to play around with it and see exactly how it works. Over the past 5 days and change we’ve had the chance to toy around with the final consumer model of the HTC Vive, the very one you can purchase online right now for $799 in fact. The HTC Vive comes complete with the headset, a pair of HTC Pro Studio headphones, both motion controllers and all the rest of the setup needed to allow you to fully move around the room in virtual space instead of sitting around like a couch potato all day. The box itself is a gorgeous affair, packed in a multi-level packaging that’s large and grandiose.
After the initial setup, which is a fairly painless process, you’ll be well on your way to enjoying experiences you’ve never thought of before. Virtual reality is one of those things that needs to be experienced to be truly understood, and while it’s great fun watching others play VR, it’s an entirely different thing to experience it for yourself. The HTC Vive is the cream of the crop VR experience and gets you the full tilt thing, no half measures or old games viewed through a new window. These are completely new, unique experiences that absolutely will not work anywhere else, and it’s really an incredible, revolutionary thing to experience.
