There are tons of ways to consume the news and media you enjoy, and HTC has given its devices like the HTC 10 a native way to consolidate it all into one place – on their home screen thanks to BlinkFeed. Of course, BlinkFeed was not the pioneer in home screen news and media access, as plenty of apps offered widgets which did the same thing, but BlinkFeed is native on many HTC devices without having to install it making things accessible pretty much immediately. While you can personalize your BlinkFeed homescreen with the types of content you love from the sources you’re most interested in, it also has some content available right from the beginning without having to configure it. These are BlinkFeed partners, and HTC has just welcomed a new one into the mix as Watchup has just announced that it is now a content partner, of which there are only a few so far.
With Watchup, you’re able to have to access to top news video content right from the homescreen without having to enter into an app. It’s also the very first streaming news service to be featured in BlinkFeed according to the Watchup team. Alongside being a new partner with HTC for BlinkFeed, the Watchup app went through an update recently which introduced some pretty nifty new features.
The Watchup app update began getting pushed out to Android users at the end of last month and introduced Chromecast support, so when you’re not watching videos on the HTC 10 or another HTC device with BlinkFeed, you can open up the application and stream it to whatever TV screen you have the Chromecast plugged into. Watchup features news videos from plenty of major news sources both national and local including BBC News, Bloomberg, The Wall Street Journal, Vice, KTLA, ABC 15, WGNTV and more. The app also aggregates everything to make it easier to find all in one place. Watchup states that in addition to the recent Chromecast support and today’s announcement about being the new BlinkFeed partner, they have more details coming soon about changes they’re making to strengthen their presence on the Android platform.
