OnePlus 2 Now Just $299, OnePlus X Now $199

When the OnePlus name was originally launched, it was clear that the Chinese upstart was in the business of making sure that users can get access to quality experiences without the associated cost. The original OnePlus One was arguably one of the best value devices to be launched back in 2014, and the OnePlus 2 was well-priced when it launched last year, so too was the OnePlus X. With the OnePlus 3 – and possibly another budget offering – on the horizon, it’s no surprise that OnePlus is giving potential customers even less of a price to jump onboard with. Today, the Chinese brand has reduced both the OnePlus 2 as well as the OnePlus X.

The Snapdragon 810-powered 5.5-inch OnePlus 2 is arguably the better option here and has now been lowered to $299, which gives users 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. While it doesn’t feature a Quad HD display, instead sticking with a 1080p panel, it does also offer dual SIM card support and some other extras you won’t find elsewhere. The OnePlus X meanwhile, which debuted last year at a lower price point is getting reduced down to just $199, which makes the OnePlus X one of the best value for money devices in the world, where GSM networks are concerned, of course. This will give users a Snapdragon 801 CPU with 3GB of RAM and a respectable 13-megapixel camera as well. That Snapdragon 801 might not be all too modern, but it’s certainly capable and should give budget-minded consumers a lot for their money.

The news was announced over at the official OnePlus forum earlier today, and those that purchased either a OnePlus 2 or OnePlus X within the last 14 days of today’s price drop will have the difference refunded if they contact customer services. The OnePlus brand might be one that some are unsure of, but with mostly stock Android and quality hardware, they will feel similar to Nexus devices for a lot of users and a great offering to those new to the world of Android. One important thing to note however, is that the OnePlus 2 nor the OnePlus X feature NFC chips, which means that they won’t work with Android Pay or other NFC-powered payment methods.
