Polaroid Launches 4K Smart TVs With Google Cast Inside

Smart TVs used to be a product that were reserved for those willing to pay a hefty price. That time has since long passed, and you can now find smart TVs from tons of different brands, including the likes of Polaroid which have just taken the wraps off of their first smart TV lineup which not only feature 4K UHD resolution, but also Google Cast technology for streaming all of your media right to the big screen without having to plug in a Chromecast dongle. An unlikely brand like Polaroid in this particular market may be surprising considering they’re known for their cameras, but Polaroid has been branching out recently into new product markets. In addition to the high-resolution screen and the Google Cast technology, they’re launching more than a few models to span a range of sizes and they come in at a fairly low cost.

Polaroid says the TVs will be ready for launch in the Summer although they don’t mention specifically when. The smallest model will be available with a screen size that is 45-inches, and it carries a $499 price tag. From there, Polaroid will also offer 50-inch, 55-inch, and 65-inch models of the same TV, with the 65-inch model costing $999. For consumers who want something a little bit bigger and won’t mind paying the additional cost, Polaroid will also launch a 75-inch model in the Fall that comes in at $1,899.

All models will come with 120hz refresh rate and feature HDMI 2.0 technology, built-in HEVC codec, and they’ll be LED-lit displays. The TVs will come with a stand that should be optional and removable for those that may want to hang or mount the TV on the wall, and they come with a slim bezel. Polaroid doesn’t offer any other details aside from the specs above, and since this is Polaroid’s first venture in the TV market, there’s no telling how decent the picture quality might be, but for the price, that likely isn’t going to matter to many consumers as they won’t have to spend nearly the same amount to get a hold of a TV that comes with these features, especially when compared to similar sized TVs coming from Sony which cost quite a bit more.
