Razer & OUYA Publishing Release Mimic Arena For Android TV

As Google I/O 2016 is underway, it would be expected that a number of announcement would be coming through which focus on Android TV. In short, that does seem to be the case with an announcement earlier today coming through from Google detailing the expansion of apps and hardware in 2016, as well as the expected feature improvements that the platform will see thanks to Android N. This was also followed by an announcement which came through from Xiaomi confirming their first entry into the U.S. Android TV market with their 4K Xiaomi Mi Box.

Now adding to the list of ever-growing Android TV announcements is one from Razer. The announcement from Razer focuses on the release of a new game entitled Mimic Arena. This is a title which represents the first output from Razer and OUYA, following the acquisition last year of OUYA’s assets by Razer. Adding to that, although the game is heading to the Android TV platform, this is also one which will become available on a whole host of devices. As such and in addition to becoming available for the Razer Forge TV, this game will work on other Android TV devices like the NVIDIA SHIELD and Nexus Player, as well as the Amazon Fire TV and also on PCs through Steam. While the announcement did not detail the pricing on Android TV, Mimic Arena does now seem to be available via the Play Store and is currently priced at $7.99.

In terms of the actual game, Mimic Arena is essentially a platform shooter which offers multiplayer functionality. Although the multiplayer capabilities are reserved to playing locally, so you cannot make use of online multiplayer mode for instance. Each player tries to win in an all out reflex-style level of action, as you try to dodge the other player’s shots. Which is made even more difficult by the inclusion of a mimic feature which means that all shots fired by all players continue to resonate in the game, while the players remain active in the game that is. If it sounds confusing then you can check out the trailer for the game below or head through the Google Play link to buy and download the game.
