The Samsung Galaxy S7 series in South Korea just became slightly more interesting, as today, Samsung together with Asiana Airlines and SK Telecom have launched a new flagship variant called the Samsung Galaxy S7 Asiana, featuring Asiana Airlines-themed boot animations and Samsung’s enterprise mobile security solution “KNOX”.
The Samsung Galaxy S7 Asiana appears to be powered by the same hardware components as the standard model; however, it does offer a handful of software additions, including an Asiana-themed user interface with custom boot animations. Samsung also preloaded the Galaxy S7 Asiana with an application that permits users to make flight reservations and view / manage Asiana Airlines tickets directly on their phone. In addition, the Samsung Galaxy S7 Asiana includes Knox out of the box, giving enterprise customers higher security levels over their content. Samsung Knox is the company’s proprietary mobile security solution, allowing users to manage and secure both personal and business content on the device, and easily switch between “Work” and “Personal” use with a tap of a button. A Samsung spokesperson added that the company “will continue to offer [the Galaxy S7 to] both regular consumers and, through our KNOX solution, our enterprise clients as well”. Software enhancements aside, Samsung also prepared an interesting deal for Asiana Airlines customers, who can use 50,000 points of their flight mileage in order to buy the Samsung Galaxy S7 Asiana at a discount directly from the airline’s official website.
