Team Win Brings TWRP To Honor 7 & 3rd Gen Kindle Fire HD

If you’re a modder or a developer or simply someone that just likes to tinker with their devices now and again, one thing you’re going to need is a custom recovery installed on the device before you can proceed with flashing custom ROMs, custom kernels or anything else. This is of course, in addition to having an unlocked bootloader which is absolutely imperative if you want to flash a custom ROM. When it comes to the custom recovery software, perhaps the most popular these days is TWRP from Team Win, and today they have just added two more devices to their list of support.

Both the Honor 7 (coming from Huawei’s Honor brand) and the third generation of the Amazon Kindle Fire HD tablet now have TWRP support, so if you have either device and have been wanting to mess around with the software for any old reason, you now have an extra tool at your disposal to assist you in the process. Both device downloads can be found at the official Team Win website, although admittedly, you’ll have to search down the list if you want to get to the links.

Although TWRP isn’t your only option for custom recoveries, chances are that it may be the only option for either of these two devices in particular, which sort of makes sense as Team Win tends to support a fairly large list of devices, even the more obscure devices like Amazon’s tablets, or the smartphones from Honor. While the Honor 7 runs on Android, it does have its own UI skin installed just like many other OEM devices, so flashing TWRP could allow users to flash a more stock version of Android without the UI skin. The same goes for Amazon’s Kindle Fire HD tablet, although things are a little bit different here as it runs Amazon’s own forked version of Android called Fire OS, and with TWRP on board you could simply flash a stock version of Android and install the Google Play Store, thus opening up access to plenty more applications and games that the device didn’t previously have access to due to Amazon’s software.
