The ZTE Axon 7 has been leaking out for quite some time now. The device has been certified by TENAA (China’s equivalent to the FCC) not long ago, and it was also benchmarked recently. The company has confirmed that the device will be announced on May 26th, and that’s exactly what just happened. We’ve already covered the initial launch of the Axon 7, and are here to take a closer look at the specifications of ZTE’s all-new flagship.
First and foremost, it is worth mentioning that the Axon 7 resembles its predecessors, and that the device is made out of metal. The phone features a 5.5-inch QHD (2560 x 1440) 2.5D curved AMOLED display, along with 4GB / 6GB of RAM and 64GB / 128GB of internal storage. The 4GB RAM variant of this phone ships with 64GB of storage, while the higher-end model comes with 128GB of native storage. That being said, you can expand storage in both of these devices up to 128GB via a microSD card. Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 64-bit quad-core processor clocked at 2.15GHz fuels this smartphone, along with the Adreno 530 GPU which is in charge of graphics processing.
The 20-megapixel OIS camera (f/1.8 aperture, PDAF, smart facial beautification) is located on the back of the Axon 7, while you’ll find an 8-megapixel snapper (f/2.2 aperture) up front. The 3,250mAh battery is also a part of this package, and it is not removable. Speaking of the battery, Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.0 fast charging tech is also at your disposal here. The Type-C USB port is placed on the bottom of the Axon 7, and there are two SIM card slots available inside of this phone. The fingerprint scanner is located on the back of ZTE’s all-new flagship, and 4G LTE connectivity is also a part of this package (TDD-LTE: B38/39/40/41; FDD-LTE: B1/2/3/5/7/8; TD-SCDMA: B3/39). Android 6.0 Marshmallow comes pre-installed on the Axon 7, and on top of it, you’ll be able to find ZTE’s very own MiFavor 4.0 user interface.
The ZTE Axon 7 sports two front-facing speakers, and ZTE has included dual Hi-Fi chipset in here (AKM4961 + AKM4490). With the Axon 7 you also get NFC connectivity, and if you purchase the highest-end model with 6GB of RAM, you’ll also get the Force Touch display. The Axon 7 measures 151.7 x 75 x 7.9mm, while we still don’t know how much it weighs. The phone will be available in Gold and Silver color variants only, at least initially.
