Chances are you’ve probably heard of ZTE’s Axon devices by now. This China-based company has introduced a number of Android-powered Axon devices last year, including the Axon Mini, Axon Pro, Axon Elite, etc. That being said, the AXON 7 has been leaking out for quite some time now, the device has even been certified by TENAA (China’s equivalent to the FCC) a while back, and the company has announced the May 26th launch event for this smartphone. Well, that day has come, and ZTE has just released their new flagship, read on.
The ZTE AXON 7 is a high-end smartphone which resembles its predecessors, but looks even sleeker this time around because of its bezels, they are even thinner this time around. ZTE has partnered up with Designworks, a subsidiary of BMW, in order to design this smartphone, and ZTE has hired a world-renowned pianist, Lang Lang, to endorse the AXON 7. The ZTE AXON 7 features a 5.5-inch QHD (2560 x 1440) 2.5D curved AMOLED display, along with 4GB / 6GB of RAM and 64GB / 128GB of internal storage (expandable up to 128GB via a microSD card). The device is fueled by the Snapdragon 820 64-bit quad-core processor, along with the Adreno 530 GPU for graphics rendering. The 20-megapixel camera (PDAF, closed-loop instant autofocus, OIS, f/1.8 aperture) is this device’s main shooter, and the 8-megapixel snapper (f/2.2 aperture) can be found on the front side of this phone. The 3,250mAh battery is also available here, and it is not removable. Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.0 is at your disposal, and will make sure your battery gets charged up really quickly.
The AXON 7 sports two front-facing speakers, dual Hi-Fi chipset (AKM4961 + AKM4490), and NFC is also built into this device. The phone features a rear-facing fingerprint scanner, and the 6GB RAM model comes with a Force Touch display as well. Android 6.0 Marshmallow comes pre-installed on the AXON 7, and on top of it, you’ll find the company’s MiFavor 4.0 UI. The phone measures 151.7 x 75 x 7.9mm, while it also sport a Type-C USB 3.0 port on the bottom. When it comes to availability, the company has confirmed that the device will be first launched in China starting today (pre-order via ZTE’s online store), and international markets will follow soon after. ZTE has said that Europe and the U.S. will get the device after China, and many more markets will follow, though they did not reveal any specific dates for the international availability just yet.
