ZUK is a China-based company which has released two smartphones thus far. The company has introduced the ZUK Z1 last year, and has unveiled its successor, the ZUK Z2 Pro, last month. The ZUK Z2 Pro is a high-end smartphone which is not only fueled by the Snapdragon 820 SoC, but it also sports either 4GB or 6GB of RAM, and its internal storage goes up to 128GB, not to mention the phone sports really, really thin side bezels. That being said, soon after the ZUK Z2 Pro launch, the company has announced that the ZUK Z1 will be announced in India. This probably sounded a bit disappointing to consumers in India as they were expecting the ZUK Z2 Pro announcement, but it seems like they’re going to have to wait a little longer in order to see that happen.
Anyhow, the company did announce that the ZUK Z1 will be introduced in India, but they did not share the exact release date back then. Well, the company did now confirm that the phone will land on May 10th as the Lenovo Z1. As some of you might know, ZUK is backed by Lenovo, and it seems like the company opted to release the device under the Lenovo branding, as you can see in the provided image. Furthermore, the image also confirms that the company plans to introduce the international version of ZUK Z1 in India, the one with Cyanogen OS pre-installed. The Lenovo Z1 sports a 5.5-inch fullHD (1920 x 1080) display, 3GB of LPDDR3 RAM, and 64GB of internal storage. The device is fueled by the Snapdragon 801 quad-core SoC, along with the Adreno 330 GPU for graphics. The 13-megapixel shooter is placed on the back of this phone, and an 8-megapixel snapper can be found on its front side. The 4,100mAh battery is also a part of this package, and it is not removable. Android 5.1.1 Lollipop comes pre-installed on this phone, and Cyanogen OS 12.1 is placed on top of it, though do keep in mind that the phone will be upgradeable to Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow with Cyanogen OS 13 included on top of it.
The ZUK Z1 comes with a physical home key which is placed below the display, and that key actually doubles as a fingerprint scanner. The Lenovo Z1 will be available in Dark Grey color in India, though we still don’t know how much will it cost, we’ll just have to wait until the company officially unveils the phone, stay tuned.
