Although ASUS has already officially announced three models of the ZenFone 3, they haven’t stopped there, and are prepared to offer another device aimed at those looking to pick up a more affordable smartphone that offers some of the same functionality and design as the ZenFone 3. Today ASUS has announced the all-new ZenFone Pegasus 3, a more budget-friendly ZenFone 3 experience for anyone who is interested in saving a little bit more money. Currently, the ZenFone Pegasus 3 has not been announced as having a U.S.-based release, so there may be no chance to officially buy the phone in the U.S., but if consumers are able to get their hands on one, it would likely cost around the $200 mark as ASUS has priced the ZenFone Pegasus 3 at 1299 Yuan.
For now, ASUS is keeping the Pegasus 3 to a launch in China but this is only the first market they have planned for the phone following the initial launch. Having said that, ASUS has not yet mentioned where else they plan to release the ZenFone Pegasus 3 at this time. The ASUS ZenFone Pegasus 3 will come equipped with a 5-inch HD display that carries a resolution of 1,280 x 720 pixels, and ASUS uses curved 2.5D glass for the screen. The phone is powered by a 64-bit 1.3GHz octa-core processor and is paired with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage, although ASUS will also be offering a model with 32GB of storage and 3GB of RAM that will cost 1499 Yuan. Both support expandable storage as well through the use of a microSD card.
Both models of the device will have a 4,100 mAh battery inside to keep it powered up throughout the day, and both models will also come out of the box running on Android 6.0 Marshmallow just as the other ASUS ZenFone 3 models do. The Pegasus 3 is dual-SIM so if you have the need for two SIM cards and two services, the Pegasus 3 will serve those needs. It carries a 13MP rear-facing camera with an LED flash, a 5P lens and an f/2.2 aperture, and on the front the phone carries a 5MP camera with an f/2.0 aperture. The Pegasus 3 will support 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, and WiFi 802.11b/g/n, and it features a fingerprint sensor for extra security and an additional phone lock/unlock method. The phone comes in multiple colors that include gold, rose gold, silver, and gray. It wasn’t mentioned when ASUS plans to launch the phone in China, but it will be available through their online web store.
