Less than a week after almost a dozen of OnePlus 3 images surfaced online, the Chinese consumer electronics manufacturer had another leak showcasing the prototype of its upcoming flagship smartphone. This leak comes from a Chinese microblogging site Weibo and — among other things — shows that OnePlus 3 has a model number of “RAIN A3000”, is powered by Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow, and is running Oxygen OS 3.0. So, the newest set of OnePlus 3 images doesn’t reveal anything that we didn’t already know, but you might still be interested in checking them out if you’re excited about the release of this promising device.
Just like its predecessors, the OnePlus 3 will be punching well above its weight considering its price tag. Starting at around $349 depending on your location, this smartphone boasts a 5.5-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080) AMOLED display, the 64-bit quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 CPU with the Adreno 530 GPU, 4 GB of RAM, a 16-megapixel rear-facing camera with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), an 8-megapixel front camera, full metal frame, and two SIM card slots. Other than that, the device will also be significantly more portable than the 2015 OnePlus 2 as it’s rumored to be only 152.6 x 74.6 x 7.3mm in size and weigh just 160g. This is all the more impressive when you realize that this smartphone will be packing a 3,000 mAh battery. Furthermore, there are rumors of a OnePlus 3 version with 6 GB of RAM, and in addition to the aforementioned Oxygen OS, OnePlus is also likely to release another model running Hydrogen OS for the Chinese market. As for the amount of internal storage, the device will most probably launch in 32GB and 64 GB iterations.
A full official reveal of OnePlus 3 is happening later today through the OnePlus VR launch experience and the Chinese consumer electronics manufacturer has already confirmed that its latest device will go on sale in China this Thursday, June 16th. As for its release dates in other regions, we’re still waiting for official announcements on that front though you probably won’t have to wait too long. OnePlus 3 should also be easier to purchase than its predecessors as this phone is launching without the annoying invite system OnePlus introduced with earlier iterations of its devices.
