As summer arrives, so do the promos – this time, both Fido and Virgin Mobile are offering double data on certain plans. This promo is for a very limited time and is only good until June 6 – of course, carriers have been known to extend this type of promotion. We are also waiting to see if Koodo jumps in the ring and offers a promo of their own. When one or two carriers start promoting, the others soon follow. This double data promo is only for select plans on both Fido and Virgin Mobile.
Fido’s are with the Bring Your Own Phone (BYOP) plans – for $40 per month you can now get a full 1GB of data, along with 500 Canada-wide talk minutes and unlimited international messaging. Additional data is charged at $5 per 250MB. You also get Call Display, Voicemail and Circle Calling – Canada-wide calls between subscribers on the same account. The BYOP offers a $50 a month plan that gives you 2GB of data and all of the above features.
On Fido’s regular Data, Talk, and Text Plans, there are also a couple of options. For $45 per month, you can now get 1GB of data with the 500 minutes of talk and unlimited messaging and as an added bonus, you get a free two-year subscription to unlimited music with Spotify Premium, and Fido Roam to stay connected abroad for a daily low price. For $60 per month, you can get 2GB of data and unlimited minutes as well as the Spotify deal and Fido Roam. The offer excludes Manitoba and Saskatchewan but includes Quebec.
Virgin Mobile has their own BYOP specials as well – $40 a month will get you 1GB of data and 500 Canada-wide talk minutes, unlimited worldwide messaging from Canada, and unlimited picture messaging to Canada and the US. You also receive myPeeps, Voicemail 3, and Call Display. For those unfamiliar with myPeeps – If you hook up with five people on the same account with myPeeps, you get unlimited Canada-Wide Calling to each other. For $50 per month, you get 2GB of data and the rest of the above features.
Virgin Mobile also has limited time discounts on their Silver Plans that give you up to $300 off the retail purchase of a new phone with a two-year agreement. For $50 a month you get 500 minutes and 1GB of data and for $60 a month you get unlimited minutes and 2GB of data. There are also other options on their Gold plans as well. The offer excludes Quebec, Manitoba and Saskatchewan. These promo data plans on both Fido and Virgin Mobile are only available when you activate a new account or upgrade. But act fast, June 6 will be here on Monday!
