Tech World 2016 has come to a close as the official event is now over, and although the talk of the town is going to be the PHAB2 Pro and likely the Moto Z, there was quite a bit more unveiled at the conference that should excite the masses who are enthusiastic about technology in all of its forms. Some of this technology was a duo of flexible display devices which looked very much like a smartphone and a tablet because that’s what they were. Lenovo doesn’t have names for these devices just yet as they were simply referring to them as Flexible Tech, but the idea of workable prototypes that can bend and mold are truly interesting.
We got to spend some time grabbing a few shots to give you a closer look at what Lenovo has to offer with these devices, and although it may still be a while before something like this makes it to market as Lenovo will need time to engineer bendable elements like the battery and cameras, seeing things as far along as they were makes it seem like a device of this particular nature may not be as far out as we think.
When it comes to the tablet, it has a fully working screen with speakers and a front camera along with an LED flash to accompany it, and the foldable hinge on the back is similar to what we’ve seen from Lenovo on their most recent notebooks. It’s equipped with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of flash storage, along with a USB Type-C port. There weren’t any details given on the camera quality or the processor under the hood, but given that it’s a prototype it makes sense that Lenovo wouldn’t divulge this information as it could actually be extremely far off from a final product makeup. The foldable tablet of course, was not the only device to showcase here, and Lenovo had the flexible smartphone on display as well, which is capable of wrapping around your wrist to be worn like a bracelet/cuff when you might need to be hands-free. Lenovo also had multiple colors of the phone, so it’s reasonable to think that if they ever offered such a device on the market it would come in multiple colors as well.
