Huawei’s Honor sub-brand has been very successful in the last couple of years. They’ve released a number of compelling smartphones, and have managed to sell quite a few of them. The Honor 6, Honor 6 Plus, Honor 4X, Honor 5X, Honor V8, etc., these are just some examples. That being said, the company had released the first Honor 8 teaser quite recently, and the device was certified by TENAA (China’s equivalent to the FCC) soon after that. Well, we didn’t have to wait long for the company to confirm when will this smartphone going to land, they actually just did that.
Honor’s exec has confirmed via his official Weibo (Chinese social network) page that the Honor 8 will land on July 11th. The company’s President of Business, Zhao George, shared an official teaser on Weibo, and that teaser image contains the aforementioned launch date. We also know that the press event will kick off at 6:30PM (local time), and that it will be held at the Shanghai Oriental Sports Center in China. This essentially means that the recent July 5th launch date rumor was not accurate, so you can disregard that, this is the official announcement more or less. Now, as already mentioned, the Honor 8 surfaced on TENAA recently, and thanks to that listing, we now know both the design of the Honor 8, and what will its spec sheet look like, read on.
The Huawei Honor 8 will feature a 5.2-inch fullHD (1920 x 1080) display, 4GB of RAM and 32GB of expandable internal storage. The phone will be fueled by the Kirin 950 64-bit octa-core SoC clocked at 2.3GHz, and a 2,900mAh battery will also be included here. Two 12-megapixel cameras will be placed on the back of the Honor 8, and an 8-megapixel snapper will be available on the phone’s front side. Android 6.0 Marshmallow will come pre-installed on the device, and on top of it, you’ll get Huawei’s Emotion UI (EMUI) skin. The phone will ship with 4G LTE, of course, and it will measure 145.5 x 71 x 7.45mm, while it will weight 7.45mm. Both the White and Black color variants will be available, though interesting enough, the back side on both of those devices will be colored in white.
