Security is a very big issue these days, from privacy concerns over personal data to secure smartphones and mobile devices, and when it comes to smartphones and other mobile products, most manufacturers are sparing no expense in this particular department, following Google’s lead and doing all they can to release security updates every single month to their devices for users. LG is one of these OEMs, and last month they started showing more of their commitment to security by setting up their own security bulletin for the monthly security patch. if this sounds familiar, it’s because Google already puts out a security bulletin that lists the fixes for each update, but LG’s focuses on their devices.
Taking security a step further, LG has now just launched a product security website to bolster their security efforts. In a blog post today LG announced the news of this new website, referring to it as a “first point of contact” for LG-branded smartphones and other mobile products. This means that if users are having problems with security in one way or another on their device, this is where they should be able to go to find out any important information regarding the issue at hand, whatever that may be when the time comes.
The site isn’t just for end users though, and serves as a way for LG to be more transparent with end users on all security-related issues. Keep in mind, that the site is only going to have security information on LG mobile products, and not on any of its other consumer electronics that can be found in stores such as washers and dryers. Having said that, the new product security site will house security news and response processes for devices, among other things. LG will also post their security bulletins here to make them easier to find for users. Naturally, consumers will be able to use the product security website for reporting security issues as well just in case it’s a problem LG may not yet be aware of. LG states that they will be updating the security news and content on the site regularly. The site is also now live, so if you have an LG device and are currently dealing with a security problem, this is where you would want to go.
