Logo Leak Suggests Confirmation Of Galaxy Note 7 Name

For more than a few weeks, rumors have been circling about the replacement to last year’s Samsung Galaxy Note 5. While it was widely assumed that Samsung would end up continuing in the name scheme with the next number in line and name the device the Galaxy Note 6, a recent leak from late last night suggests confirmation of the name of the next Note device as the Galaxy Note 7. This wouldn’t be the first time that the rumored name had popped up, as rumors began as early as May that Samsung would be opting to skip ahead one number in the device series, perhaps to keep things evenly in line with the Galaxy S series which is in its seventh generation this year.

The logo leak comes from Evan Blass on Twitter, and alongside it he also suggests that the Galaxy Note 7 will be equipped with a rumored specification – An iris scanner. If the rumor proves true, it would allow consumers to unlock the device by letting it scan their eyes as opposed to using the fingerprint scanner, pin, password, or pattern lock combinations. The iris scanner rumor cropped earlier this month, but was also initially revealed as a possibility back in the beginning of April when the device was still being referred to as the Galaxy Note 6, and although it’s still just a rumor, Blass does have a track record for being correct when it comes to mobile device leaks.

Samsung is rumored to be starting mass production of the Galaxy Note 7 as early as next month according to a recent report, however it’s still unknown when they plan to unveil the new device. Other recent rumors have suggested that Samsung may end up introducing two variants of the phone, one with a curved edge screen similar to the Galaxy S7 Edge, and one without, although the most recent rumors regarding that particular detail seem to point to a single device offering in a curved edge screen model. It’s also been said that Samsung will opt to use a Quad HD display for the Galaxy Note 7 and not bump the device up to a 4K screen. According to Blass’ leak on the name, the QHD screen is going to be present on the device set at 5.7-inches in size. The phone will also allegedly come with 64GB of internal storage along with expandable storage via a microSD card slot, as well as an IP68 certification, a Dual Pixel 12MP rear camera, and a 5MP front camera, and it’s rumored to be available in Black, Silver, and Blue when it launches.
