During Lenovo’s Tech World 2016 conference which kicked off quite a few hours ago, Motorola has announced two of its latest smartphones – Moto Z and Moto Z Force. Both devices seem fairly promising and can definitely be classified as flagships, but given how they won’t be hitting the market until September, it’s no surprise we still don’t know what their official price tags will be.
As expected, Lenovo didn’t announce anything regarding the exact or even approximate prices of these upcoming devices, but a credible source shed some light on the situation nonetheless. More specifically, thanks to a relatively well-known blogger and industry insider Nixanbal, the Moto Z will allegedly be priced below the initial price tag of the latest and greatest Apple iPhone and flagships from the Samsung Galaxy line. The Bulgarian blogger claims his info comes from sources that are extremely close to Lenovo and Motorola and given his past record with leaks, this piece of information may very well be legit. For the unaware, Nixanbal was the source that leaked the first pictures of the 2014 phones LG G3 and HTC Desire 620 and was also responsible for a series of smaller, later validated leaks regarding details on various smartphones over the last couple of years. This blogger or bloggers doesn’t have a perfect track record but is right much more often than not.
So, what does that tell us? We know that the full retail price of this year’s flagship Apple iPhones and Samsung Galaxy smartphones ranges between $650 and $700, so that means that the more powerful Moto Z Force should be at least symbolically cheaper than that. As for the regular Moto Z, this leak suggests that the said device could be a real hit on the market if Motorola, i.e. Lenovo actually does price it significantly below its high-end competitors. Boasting the powerful Snapdragon 820 system on a chip, Adreno 530 GPU, 4GB of RAM, 64GB of internal storage, and a QHD (2560 x 1440, 535 ppi) AMOLED display, this 5.5-inch device definitely looks capable of at least competing with pretty much every flagship that we currently know is coming to the market in 2016.
