The Mate 8 is Huawei’s current flagship phablet. This device was originally introduced at the end of last year, but it is still Huawei’s flagship phablet, at least until the company introduces its successor. The company did introduce quite a few devices this year, but a high-end phablet was not amongst them. Well, we’re here to talk about a new high-end phablet by Huawei, but only a new variant of the Huawei Mate 8, read on.
Now, the Huawei Mate S is a smartphone which was originally announced during IFA in Berlin last year, and that handset sported a pressure sensitive display. That being said, it was quite surprising Huawei did not include such tech in the Huawei Mate 8, but it seems like the company has decided to correct that ‘mistake’, at least based on the latest report. Now, a new variant of the Huawei Mate 8 got certified in China recently, and considering that this model features the exact same specifications as the original Mate 8, reports surfaced that this is the ‘Force Touch’ model of the device.
The device will ship with a 6-inch fullHD (1920 x 1080) LCD display, 4GB of RAM and 32GB, 64GB or 128GB of internal storage, depending on which variant you opt to purchase. No matter what model you get, you’ll be able to expand its storage via a microSD card up to 128GB. The device will be fueled by the Kirin 950 64-bit octa-core processor, along with the Mali-T880 MP4 GPU. The 16-megapixel OIS camera (f/2.0 aperture) is also a part of this package, and the 8-megapixel shooter will be located on the front side of this phablet. The 4,000mAh battery will also be included here, and it will not be removable. Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow will come pre-installed on this new version of the Mate 8, and on top of it, you’ll be able to find Huawei’s Emotion UI 4.0.
We cannot confirm that this is a ‘Force Touch’ model of the Mate 8 just yet, but based on a number of reports from China, that’s what we’re looking at here. This smartphone is expected to be announced soon, so stay tuned for more info.
