Battery technology in general is something that is constantly being researched and developed as people seem to continuously be in need of more ways to draw less power while getting the same amount of use from the things they interact with on a daily basis. This is all the more true with smartphones, and as devices that are carried nearly all day every day by a majority of the users that own them, battery life is an ongoing battle. For some this is less of an issue than others, but for many it’s a problem. The solution is usually a bigger battery, but more recently, companies like OnePlus have been looking into alternative solutions to fast draining batteries. In the case of OnePlus, the company’s newly announced OnePlus 3 uses a new technology called Dash Charge. You can learn about the rest of the OnePlus 3 specs here .
Dash Charge is a technology that OnePlus has integrated into the OnePlus 3, boasting the capability to charge a day’s worth of battery life in just 30 minutes. More specifically, OnePlus states that the Dash Charge technology is able to charge the 3,000mAh battery that comes inside of the OnePlus 3 up to 60 percent in just half an hour. That’s more than half the battery life in the time it takes to usually finish a TV program, and for many people is more than enough battery power to keep them going through the second leg of their day’s activities.
Aside from being able to charge more than half the device’s battery in a 30-minute time frame, Dash Charge is also said to continue delivering a fast charge rate even while users engage in activities that drain the battery quickly, such as streaming video and gaming. Dash Charge technology is not only quick, but it also reportedly operates at a lower temperature than other fast charge solutions according to OnePlus, and this is due to the power management being handled by the Dash Charge adapter instead of the phone. Because of this method, OnePlus states that the phone should never end up overheating as most of the heat being generated during the charging process won’t reach the device, which OnePlus is implying should make the charging process safer. If battery woes are a common occurrence for you, the OnePlus 3 with Dash Charge technology might be a solution.
