Last month, South Korea-based electronics giant, Samsung unveiled their latest budget tablet from it’s Galaxy Tab A lineup, the Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.1 (2016) rather silently, and without much hype in Europe. However, the tablet was only released to the European market while their country of origin, South Korea was left out. This was rather unusual as Samsung would usually use the South Korean market as a testing ground for their latest products before releasing them to the international market, and this, of course, made their consumers in South Korea a little frustrated about receiving the tablet after the European market.
However, after a whole month of waiting, consumers in South Korea can now finally get their hands on Samsung’s latest offering, the Galaxy Tab A 10.1 (2016) as Samsung has announced that it will be launching it in their home country. According to Samsung, the tablet will be available for purchase by consumers later this month and consumers can choose from two color choices, either Black or White, and there will be two versions, a Wi-Fi only model and a LTE-enabled model. As for pricing, the Wi-Fi model will cost 359,000 KRW ($311) while the LTE- enabled model will cost 399,000 KRW ($346). The Galaxy Tab A 10.1 (2016) in South Korea is priced significantly lower compared to the ones sold in the European market.
The tablet which the South Korean market will receive, has the exact same specifications as the European version. For those who don’t already know it’s specifications, the Galaxy Tab A 10.1 (2016) features a 10.1-inch WUXGA (1920 x 1200) TFT PLS display, along with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage under the hood which can be boosted a further 200GB via a microSD card slot. The tablets packs Samsung’s own Exynos 7870 64-bit octa-core SoC running at 1.6GHz, and a huge 7300 mAh non-removable battery is packed inside this tablet. In terms of camera optics, it sports an 8-megapixel rear facing camera while the front sports a 2-megapixel camera. On the software side of things, the Galaxy Tab A 10.1 (2016) runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box and users will find Samsung’s own UI, TouchWiz on top of it.
