T-Mobile Schedules Un-Carrier 11 Event for June 6, 2016

It’s been rumored, and now it’s finally official. T-Mobile announced this morning that they will be holding their Un-carrier 11 announcement on Monday, June 6th. It will also be live streamed for everyone to watch. The event is going to start at 10am PT/1pm ET. T-Mobile didn’t really leave any hints about what the company may be announcing but did state in the invite that “We’re turning it up to Eleven”.

T-Mobile initially began the Un-carrier events in March 2013, where they ended contracts. This is actually the move that changed the wireless industry the most. T-Mobile went from selling smartphones on contract, to selling them in installments. While it is still technically a contract (if you opt to leave T-Mobile before the phone is paid off, you will owe what is left), it’s still a big deal. As it rewards those that pay off their phone early, or buy at full retail. T-Mobile then went on to announce JUMP, allowing their customers to upgrade their smartphones sooner. We’ve also gotten unlimited international roaming, Tablets get 200MB of data each month for free with ‘Tablets Unleashed’, Music Freedom and Binge On allows you to listen to music and watch video without it counting against your data cap. And that’s just a few of their bigger moves.

These Un-carrier moves are here to solve pain points for wireless customers. When John Legere took over T-Mobile USA in the fall of 2012, he wanted to change this broken industry. And has done so with this Un-carrier initiative. Taken a wireless company that was losing subscribers left and right, to being the fastest growing wireless carrier in the country, in just a few short years. Now what does Legere and his team have planned for Un-carrier 11? It’s tough to say, but it is going to be exciting. Rumors did state that T-Mobile would be offering freebies in Un-carrier 11, including some stock for those that have been loyal customers of the company. This rumor did also state that the event would be happening on June 6th, and that part has already been confirmed. We’ll find out all the details on Monday.
