Android OS is considerably different than the rest of the pack, and it became so popular for many reasons, but one of the main ones is its customizability. This is an open source platform, and even though Android does offer plenty of customizability options out of the box (and with help from third-party apps), you can always take it up a notch when you root your device. Now, if you decided to do so, you can always use a third-party recovery in order to make your life easier, and that’s where TWRP comes in. TWRP is TeamWin’s custom recovery, one of the most popular (if not the most popular) option out there.
We’ve talked about TWRP many times before and chances are many of you use(d) this recovery already. Ever though TWRP is available for a ton of devices, not all phones are compatible. Well, the company has just made that gap a bit narrower, TWRP is now available for a number of new devices, including the Xiaomi Mi Max, NVIDIA Shield Portable, Moto G4 / G4 Plus, Oppo F1 and Infinix HOT 2. The Xiaomi Mi Max and Moto G4 / G4 Plus have been released quite recently, and TWRP is already available for those devices, kudos to TeamWin, for sure. The Infinix HOT 2 might not seem all that familiar to some of you, but this is an Android One device, so it’s not exactly surprising to see it on this list. The OPPO F1 might not be the most popular devices on this list, but OPPO is one of the largest China-based smartphone manufacturers, and OPPO F1 has been selling really well thus far, TeamWin certainly did receive quite a few requests to make TWRP available for this phone, which is probably the main reason it has been included. The NVIDIA Shield Portable had an unofficial TWRP support for quite some time now, and TeamWin just confirmed that the device is now officially supported, which is nice.
TeamWin keeps on adding new devices to the TWRP support list all the time, and none of these devices come as a surprise, that’s for sure. It remains to be seen who’s next in line, stay tuned.
