Huawei, much like many other China-based smartphone manufacturers, ship their devices with a rather heavy skin on top of Android. The company installs their Emotion UI (EMUI) skin on top of Google’s Android OS, a skin that is loved by some consumers, and hated by others, but the fact is, this overlay is far from vanilla version of Android. Now, it seems like Huawei thinks they need to significantly change their UI, they’ve hired Apple’s and eBay’s ex-designer, Abigail Brody, a while back, and now a report surfaced discussing the new version of EMUI, read on.
Huawei had appointed Abigail Brody as the leader of their UI team, and it seems like the upcoming EMUI 8 will bring along quite a few changes. It seems like the EMUI 5 will take some inspiration from MIUI 8, at least in the colors department. Huawei plans to add more colors to their UI, and based on the leaked material and info, EMUI 5 will be far closer to stock Android than EMUI 4 was, not to mention Huawei plans to add quite a few customizability options on top of everything. If you take a look at the gallery down below, you’ll get to see quite a few EMUI 5 leaked designs. These images were leaked by KJuma, a well-known China-based tipster, though truth be told, the images don’t exactly share all that much info, but you can at least see the way the things are going in the icons department, presuming this leak is legit, of course.
This China-based company is currently the third-largest smartphone manufacturer in the world, and it seems like they still think there’s room for improvement when it comes to their software. Huawei makes really quality devices in terms of hardware, but the software isn’t really the company’s strong point, it’s definitely nice to see they’re trying to change that. Based on the leaked images and rumors, Emotion UI (EMUI) 5 will be a significant step away from the EMUI 4, and we’ll let you decide whether that’s a good or a bad thing, some people seem to love EMUI as it is at the moment, so… either way, we’ll let you know as soon as some additional MIUI 4 info surfaces. Until then it is worth remembering that the EMUI 5 will arrive this Fall, in case you didn’t know that already.
