Samsung’s Galaxy Note 7 with a flat screen has shown up in a few new leaked images today, showcasing what could still simply be a prototype device that Samsung had been testing at one point. This wouldn’t be the first time that a flat version of the upcoming Galaxy Note 7 has made its way into the limelight, as a few leaked shots of the device popped up as recently as last week, first with the screen off while another showed the device powered on and running. These latest images also display a powered on device, along with shots of the homescreen, the lock screen, the settings menu, and more.
Since the Galaxy Note 7 with a flat screen has allegedly shown up in the public before, the suggestion is that Samsung may have been working on a flat screened version of the Galaxy Note 7 for release at one point, but the most recent speculation is that Samsung has scrapped a flat screen design for this phone and has decided to use a curved edge screen model only. Samsung is expected to reveal the Galaxy Note 7 officially on August 2nd during their second Unpacked event for the year, which they sent out press invites for earlier this month.
All of the most recent rumors and leaks point towards a Galaxy Note 7 with a curved edge screen as there have been more than a few press renders of the phone showing off what seems to be the final design, although there is no way of knowing for sure if Samsung has a variant of the device in the works with a flat screen as well. Even if it is unlikely that Samsung is making two models of the device just as they have with the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge, it is still possible, and all of the rumors surrounding a flat display model have kept the dream alive for those who are hoping to have such a device model as an option once the phone launches. Whether or not Samsung delivers a flat screen model for purchase won’t be made clear until the beginning of next month.
