Mid-Range Karbonn Quattro L55 HD Officially Announced

Today, smartphone manufacturer Karbonn unveiled its latest mobile device called the Karbonn Quattro L55 HD. It appears to be a successor to the Karbonn Quattro L50 announced in India earlier this year, and not unlike the Quattro L50, the newer model seems to be designed for the Indian market from the ground up. As of yet, prices and availability details remain unknown, but the smartphone is now presented on the manufacturer’s official website where its specifications have been fully uncovered.

The Karbonn Quattro L55 HD is a mid-range smartphone, featuring a 5.5-inch IPS display with a resolution of 1280 x 720. It is powered by an unspecified quad-core processor clocked at frequencies of up to 1.3 GHz per core, and sports 2 GB of RAM along with 16 GB of internal memory, expandable by up to an additional 32 GB via microSD. The smartphone’s back panel accommodates a 13-megapixel camera coupled with an LED flash, and a 5-megapixel camera resides on the front panel. Connectivity-wise, the smartphone supports 4G LTE (Band 3, Band 5, and Band 40), as well as VoLTE (Voice Over LTE), Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS. All the components are powered by a 2,700 mAh Li-Po battery, said to offer up to 130 hours of standby time, and up to 9 hours of talk time, with charging times of up to 4 hours. Overall, the smartphone measures 152 x 77.2 x 8.9 millimeters, and as far as the software is concerned it runs Android 5.1 Lollipop with the custom Kandy v1.0 user interface on top.

Although pricing details are currently unknown, there are plenty of similarities between the Karbonn Quattro L55 HD and the Quattro L50 to suggest that they are both part of the same price group. The Karbonn Quattro L50 was released in India earlier this year for the price of Rs. 7,990, which converts to roughly $119 at today’s rates. Considering that both models have the same display resolution, the same amount of RAM, and presumably the same SoC and camera configuration, it’s likely that the Karbonn Quattro L55 HD will have a similar, but slightly higher price due to the inclusion of a larger display and bigger (by 100 mAh) battery. Either way, Karbonn is likely to disclose these details and launch the smartphone in India in the coming days or weeks.
