Chinese OEM OnePlus today announced that the OnePlus 3, its latest flagship phone, will be updated with OxygenOS 3.2.2 and that the update process will be incremental, reaching all individual handsets over a period of time in a phased manner. Apart from bringing in security patches to address existing vulnerabilities in OnePlus 3 handsets, OxygenOS 3.2.2 will also bring in several upgrades to optimize the phone’s camera and add new features in settings apart from improving notifications. The update comes a mere three weeks after OnePlus 3 handsets across the world were updated with OxygenOS 3.2.1 which addressed SIM recognition issues along with bringing in other security patches.
Thanks to OxygenOS 3.2.2, your OnePlus 3 handset will now feature an NFC toggle in quick settings, letting you quickly turn the feature on or off depending on your requirement. Yet another great new feature is the added option of disabling the fingerprint sensor when you put the phone in your pocket. OnePlus also states that it ‘improved notification management in doze’ but doesn’t exactly explain how. Given that the doze mode essentially saves battery life, OnePlus may have done away with a few bits and pieces in notifications that were hampering the process. If you’ve been facing issues with the handset’s video recording, OxygenOS 3.2.2 has also introduced an improvement in noise cancellation during recordings and has also updated the 4K video recording codec.
The OnePlus 3 has been among the more critically acclaimed phones this year but has arrived with its own share of troubles. Soon after its release, users reported a range of problems including the much talked-about RAM issue and that there was a chance of the phone’s IMEI number getting exposed to the public when checking for updates. As far as the RAM issue was concerned, users believed that the RAM was compromised because of OnePlus’ decision to “optimize” it to save precious battery life. While the company got rid of the problem a month ago, the range of updates introduced with OxygenOS 3.2.2 shows that the company is serious about fixing existing issues in the shortest possible time, especially given the fact that the phone was pitched globally as a low-cost alternative to premium handsets, of which there is no lack of options so far this year.
