OnePlus had recently introduced their new flagship, the OnePlus 3. This handset is a significant step away from the OnePlus One and OnePlus 2 in terms of the design, and even though it’s a bit more expensive than its predecessor, it has lots to offer. We’ve already reviewed this smartphone, in case you’d like to know more. That being said, many people thought that OnePlus intends to release the second-gen OnePlus X later this year, but the company’s CEO already said that it won’t happen. Pete Lau, the company’s CEO, explained shortly after OnePlus 3’s launch that the company plans to focus solely on the OnePlus 3 (at least as far as smartphones go), and that they won’t be releasing the 2nd-gen OnePlus X.
Now, the OnePlus X was still available for purchase after OnePlus 3’s launch, but it went out of stock quite recently. We’ve reported yesterday that the device is no longer available from OnePlus’ web shop, and basically everyone assumed that it won’t be making a comeback, but that won’t be the case. Android Authority reached out to OnePlus in order to get a confirmation of said news, and they said this in return: “We will have limited stock of the OnePlus X Ceramic and Onyx available over the next few months. The OnePlus X Champagne has already sold out and will not be replenished. Stay tuned to our forums for updates, and rest assured that we will continue supporting the OnePlus X as we do all of our other phones.”
So, as you can see, OnePlus plans to bring back the Ceramic and Onyx variants of OnePlus X, they will have a limited stock of the said two devices. Those of you who have missed to buy them, will get another chance in the coming months. If you want to purchase the Champagne variant of the phone, however, you’re out of luck, that variant won’t be coming back, it won’t be available directly from OnePlus at least. OnePlus X is made out of metal and glass, and definitely doesn’t look like a mid-range handset, which is why a number of people out there actually love this phone, and it also managed to get rather positive reviews last year. Too bad OnePlus is not making a sequel, but the 1st-gen phone is still a really solid smartphone, so if you’d like to purchase it in the near future, stay tuned, OnePlus will sell it once more, soon.
