Earlier today and over the last few days, Samsung has pushed out a couple of updates to the Gear S2 smartwatch that have brought in some new features to enhance the experience for users. This included major things like support for Samsung Pay, a rather big addition given the growth of Samsung’s mobile payment solution, and smaller changes and features like photo watch faces as well as sleep tracking features. Today, Samsung has officially announced the changes that came a long with the update that was sent out to the Gear S2 as of last Friday, so if you haven’t received the update yet and weren’t sure what it included, the company has made it nice and clear.
Included in last week’s update was the ability to track sleep data as well as use photos for watch faces, and Samsung highlights that the update is focused quite a bit on improving the ease of use for the watch owner as well as increase the speed of access to certain features. One of the most notable changes is likely going to be the speed at which uses can change out watch faces now, as it no longer requires the user to have the connected smartphone on hand to swap out a watch face, rather things can all be done directly from the watch itself. Now this is nothing new as of today since Samsung began pushing this update out on July 15th, but it will be new to some users, and Samsung has just made the announcement this afternoon officially.
Another new feature as part of last week’s update which users may or may not have noticed is that S Health functionality is improved. This includes tracking the sleep data automatically as mentioned above, as well as direct Facebook posting from the watch when users want to share information about their exercise. Users may have also noticed the ability to request a timer be set simply by using S Voice, and should there be any issues that warrant giving customer support a call, Samsung has placed the Contact Us function inside of the Gear app for some speedy access to an agent. If you haven’t gotten the update as of last week, continue keeping an eye on your watch throughout the next few days.
