Meizu had managed to sell around 20 million smartphones last year, which means the company grew a lot compared to 2014, they were able to ship out ‘only’ 4.4 million units back then. Meizu is expecting to sell 25 million units by the end of this year, and they’ve announced a handful of devices since January. The Meizu MX6 seems to be right around the corner though, the company is getting ready to host an event later this month, and chances are that they’ll introduce the Meizu MX6.
The Meizu MX6 has been leaking out for a while now, and we’ve exclusively confirmed that it will ship with the Helio X20 SoC, and we’ve also shared some images of the device as well. It is also worth mentioning that the company’s CEO isn’t all that satisfied with the phone’s design (it resembles the PRO 6 too much it seems), which made us wonder whether the phone will be announced at all, but it seems like it is set in stone at this point considering Meizu is holding an event later this month. That being said, a new piece of info surfaced in China lately, and it reports on the Meizu MX6’s price. The company’s co-founder, Bai Yongxiang, said via Weibo (Chinese social network) that the phone is using a lot of Meizu PRO 6’s tech, and that the phone might be more expensive than we think. He also mentions that the MX6 will be one of the best-designed products in its price segment, though you can expect it to resemble the PRO 6 quite a bit.
The company’s CEO did not mention the pricing of this smartphone, but we do expect it to cost around 2,000 Yuan ($300). This seems like a sweet spot for its price, it will be more expensive than the MX5, but not by much. The phone will probably sport a 5.5-inch fullHD (1920 x 1080) display, 3GB / 4GB of RAM, and 32GB / 64GB of internal storage. We’ve already mentioned that it will be fueled by the Helio X20 64-bit deca-core processor, and the phone will be made out of metal. The multifunctional mBack home button will be a part of this package as well, and a fingerprint scanner will be built into it. We still don’t know which version of Android will ship on top of this device, though we’re hoping Meizu will include Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box, and on top of it, you’ll be able to find the company’s custom user interface called Flyme UI.
