Xiaomi needs no special introduction at this point, China’s largest smartphone manufacturer is selling tons of devices lately, and we can expect quite a few new smartphones to land in the second half of this year, at least according to the company’s CEO who not only talked about new devices recently, but also the company’s production capacity. The Xiaomi Mi 5s, Mi Note 2 and Redmi Note 4 are all expected to arrive in the coming weeks, and we’ll keep you updated as far as that is concerned.
That being said, it seems like Xiaomi is managing to sell quite a few ‘Redmi’ smartphones lately. The company’s CEO said last month that the company has crossed the 100 million mark when it comes to Redmi-branded smartphone sales, and today Hugo Barra gave us some more info via his official Twitter account. The company’s VP of Global said that the company’s just crossed 110 million Redmi phone sales, now, as a reminder, the first Redmi-branded smartphone was introduced back in August 2013. The company’s VP of Global even did some math for us, to show us how successful the Redmi line of devices has been. 110 million devices since August 2013 comes down to 1.21 units per second in three year’s time, now, that is impressive, especially for such a young company.
The company had introduced several Redmi devices this year, including the Redmi 3, Redmi Note 3, Redmi 3 Pro and Redmi 3s. All of these devices are mid-range offerings by the company, and we do expect Xiaomi to introduce several more Redmi-branded devices before the end of this year. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 might be next in line, this device was heavily rumored lately, and it seems like it might land sooner rather than later. The Redmi Note 3 arrived in January, and it sports a 5.5-inch fullHD display, 2GB / 3GB of RAM and it is fueled by the Snapdragon 650 64-bit hexa-core processor. The Redmi Note 4 will probably resemble its predecessor quite a bit, and you can expect the 5.5-inch fullHD display to make a comeback with the Redmi Note 4. We still don’t have all the details when it comes to its specifications, but we’ll keep you posted.
