It seems like Xiaomi is betting big on high-end devices this year, the company’s execs have mentioned several times that the company will introduce a couple of high-end devices in the second half of 2016, and that they’re putting focus on such phones moving forward. This doesn’t mean that they’ll neglect budget devices though, not by a long shot. Anyhow, the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 is going to be announced in the coming weeks for sure, and the Xiaomi Mi 5s has also been rumored several times thus far. Well, the company’s co-founder did mention another high-end phone that might land in the second half of the year recently, but we didn’t know what phone exactly was he referring to. Thanks to a new leak, Mr. Jiang’s comments make way more sense, read on.
The ‘Xiaomi Phone Pro’ surfaced in China quite recently, well, its specifications have, not the actual image of the device. We somehow doubt that the ‘Xiaomi Phone Pro’ will be its name, but it is possible Xiaomi will opt for the ‘Xiaomi Mi Pro’ or ‘Xiaomi Pro’ naming instead. Anyhow, this smartphone is rumored to sport a 5.5-inch fullHD (1920 x 1080) OLED display from AUO, along with 4GB / 6GB of LPDDR4 RAM (running at 1866MHz) and 64GB / 128GB of UFS 2.0 internal storage. This smartphone will be fueled by Qualcomm’s newly announced Snapdragon 821 64-bit quad-core processor, along with the Adreno 530 GPU, and a 3,700mAh battery will also be included here. The phone will ship with a front-facing fingerprint scanner, and we also have some info when it comes to its rear-facing camera sensor. Now, according to this leak, the device will ship with a 12-megapixel rear-facing camera sensor. On its own, this news isn’t interesting, but the leak says we’re looking at the same sensor combination you can find in the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge devices. This means that the Xiaomi Pro (or whatever you want to call it) will boast Sony’s IMX260 and ISOCELL S5K2L1 sensors, both of these sensors will be used by Xiaomi, and chances are you won’t even know which sensor is included in the device you’re purchasing before you do some digging. Do keep in mind, however, that these sensors will sport different aperture than on the Galaxy S7 (f/2.0 compared to f/1.7 in Galaxy S7 & S7 Edge’s case), at least if this leak is to be believed.
Judging by this info, the ‘Xiaomi Pro’ will be a really compelling smartphone with high-end specifications, and it will be really interesting to see what will it look like once Xiaomi announces it. If this device is really coming, chances are we’ll see plenty of leaks before it gets announced, so stay tuned for that.
